What Is Journaling?
Keeping a prayer journal simply means to record your day’s experiences, thoughts, interactions, etc., with an eye to the fact that God was part of your day. Through the recording of events, interactions, etc., you can look for where He was in what others did for or said to you; and for where He was in what you did for or said to others. That will help you remain conscious of the reality that God truly is present in your ordinary, everyday life!
Or, you can write down thoughts about your day, your life, your relationships, your questions, your dreams, your disappointments, etc., each day as a “letter” to God. Address Him personally. Tell Him what’s in your heart. Ask Him the hard questions that are puzzling you. Unburden your sorrows to Him. Ask His help. Share your joys with Him. This is another way of realizing that God is always there with you!
Listen to the Spirit—He Will Lead You makes an excellent prayer journal. It can also be used as an engagement calendar, a daily reminder/daily planner, a lesson plan book for teachers and home schoolers, a daily meditation aid, or anything else you would want. It also makes an excellent gift for priests, sisters, RCIA candidates, volunteers, parish and school staff members, spouses and friends. The people who use this book each year to assist them in their daily walk with the Lord find that it is true: if you “listen to the Spirit—He will lead you!”
