The Prayers About the Promises OTHER LINKS: |
|||
For centuries there has been a controversy regarding whether the promises that are often published with the Fifteen Prayers of St. Bridget are authentic and approved by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The article on the following pages, addresses this issue. It discusses a directive (a Monitum) given in 1954 by the Holy Office of the Vatican, during the papacy of Pope Pius XII. This is the most recent and, therefore, the current directive in place regarding the promises associated with the St. Bridget Prayers. Even though the promises often published with the Prayers of St. Bridget are prohibited by the Church, one thing is certain: for all who pray the Fifteen Prayers of St. Bridget with love and devotion, the Lord will hear their petitions and answer their prayers according to His will. |
